1. Eligibility:

  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board or institution.

2. Registration:

  • Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can register for the CMA Foundation course.
  • Registration for the Foundation course is open throughout the year. However, there are specific examination cycles.

3. Syllabus:

  • The CMA Foundation course consists of four papers.
    • Paper 1: Fundamentals of Economics and Management
    • Paper 2: Fundamentals of Accounting
    • Paper 3: Fundamentals of Laws and Ethics
    • Paper 4: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics and Statistics
  • The syllabus covers basic concepts in economics, management, accounting, business laws, ethics, mathematics, and statistics.

4. Examination Pattern:

  • The CMA Foundation examination is conducted twice a year, usually in June and December.
  • Each paper is of 100 marks and is conducted in English medium.
  • The examination is conducted in offline (pen and paper) mode.
  • Candidates must score a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and an aggregate of 50% marks in all papers to pass the examination.

5. Exemption:

  • There are no exemptions available for the CMA Foundation course. All candidates must appear for and pass all four papers.

6. Registration Fee:

  • The registration fee for the CMA Foundation course varies depending on the student's location and other factors. It includes registration fees, subscription fees, and examination fees.

7. Career Path:

  • After successfully clearing the CMA Foundation examination, candidates can progress to the next level of the CMA course, which is the CMA Intermediate course.
  • Upon completion of all levels and fulfilling the required practical training, candidates become eligible for membership of the ICMAI and can practice as Cost and Management Accountants.
  • Cost and Management Accountants can pursue various career paths in cost accounting, management accounting, financial management, taxation, auditing, consulting, and corporate management.
